IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW
How do I create a form?
With our newest form builder, building a form is now easier and more intuitive than ever.
What is a subform?
Subforms can be used to create sub-sections of a larger form. Subforms should take form elements that would originally be on the Parent Form and add them to a separate form that will be linked to the Parent Form.
Subforms can be configured to allow for multiple subform records to be created.
How do I add a subform?
To add a subform element to your form, please follow the instructions below.
From inside the form builder, click the Subform button from the left-hand menu. You'll see it populate the device view.
On the right-hand side, you'll see the element properties. Enter the name of your element. This is the text your user will see when for this element on the device.
Note that if you check the Based on Label option, it will create a data column based on the Label on the element.
Scroll down the right-hand menu and from the Smart Paging tab, select Subform List.
Choose the form you want to use as your subform.
Choose your subform Link Mode.
SINGLE: This will allow the user to only submit one subform record per Parent form record.
MULTIPLE: This will allow the user to submit unlimited subform records per Parent form.
Choose whether you want the subforms to show in Separate Table View. The Separate Table View will allow for the subform records to show in their own record view.
Save your form.
- When building Subforms we suggest using a naming convention for the Table name to show the relationship. This also keeps the forms together in Form Builder.
- To remove the Subform from the main form menu on the device, go to the Form Assignment tab, and remove Collect rights. This way the user will only be able to access the subform through the parent and ensure the relationship is maintained.
- Download the Form Package at the bottom for a sample form of this functionality.
